every time I see your smirk I think of the devil.
is it just me?
Let me get this right - a Democratic president gets his knob polished and Republicans cry for blood. A Republican cheats on his wife and the “family values” voters want him as president? They seem to think that Gingrich is the most “electable” candidate? I’m not gonna think too hard…
South Carolina Primary Results of the Day: NBC, ABC, and FOX wasted no time in giving the South Carolina column to Newt Gingrich, projecting the former House Speaker primary winner as soon as the polls closed at 7 PM.
A Gingrich victory in the Palmetto State — unimaginable a few weeks ago — is meaningful for a number of reasons, not least of which is the fact that, since 1980, every Republican who has won the primary has gone on the clinch the nomination.
It’s an important precedent, but one which shouldn’t necessary be overestimated.
Some interesting observations which emerged from the exit polls include the importance of the Republican debates, which nearly two out of every three voters said affected their decision. Additionally, more than 50% of respondents said they had only made up their minds in the last few days.
As previously noted, Mitt Romney remains the national frontrunner for the time being, but tonight’s results may have a impact on his future standing. Voters in South Carolina, much like their counterparts in Iowa and New Hampshire, chose “electability” as their candidate’s most important quality. Given the result, Romney may no longer be the obvious Obama antidote in the minds of many Republicans.
Looking ahead to Florida, here’s how things stand now.
