München

ARE YOU going to OKTOBERFEST? http://www.oktoberfest.de/en/ - this year it starts on September 22. Last year over 6 million visitors came and drank over 7 million litres of beer at the world’s biggest “peoples” festival.

A FEW TIPS

Don’t like crowds? Don’t go.

Are you German? If not do not even attempt to buy and wear the traditional garb, you will only embarrass yourself.

Munich IS expensive. As the largest city in Bavaria, which is the richest (and most conservative) of all the German states - it is pricey even compared to other cities in the country (esp. Berlin) and the people are pretty stoic. Oktoberfest is big here cause it’s the one time of year they let their hair down for a rowdy good time. Can’t make it? I really like the Munich at Christmas time as well… http://www.muenchen.de/int/en/Rathaus/tourist_office/veranst/christkind/index.html
